How to write an SEO article that still reads like a human wrote it

A repeatable 7-step process: intent research, outline, drafting, internal links and the on-page checklist.

Table of contents

Search engines reward pages that answer the question faster and more completely than the alternatives. Everything below serves that goal.

Step 1: Classify the intent before writing a word

Open the top ten results. Are they tutorials, comparisons, tool pages or news? If nine are step-by-step tutorials, an essay will not rank.

Step 2: Build the outline from real questions

Collect questions from People Also Ask, forums and client conversations. Each becomes an H2 or H3.

Step 3: Write the introduction last

Three sentences: the problem, what the article gives them, why you can be trusted.

Step 4: One idea per paragraph

Two to four sentences. Lists for parallel items, tables for comparisons, an example after any abstract claim.

Step 5: Add what AI cannot fake

  • Screenshots you took yourself, dated.
  • Numbers from your own projects.
  • A quote from someone who does the work.
  • An honest downside of the recommendation.

Link three to six related articles using words a reader would search for. Never “click here”.

Step 7: The on-page checklist

  1. One H1 matching the title tag promise.
  2. Title under 60 characters, description under 155.
  3. Descriptive alt text, compressed files, explicit dimensions.
  4. Logical H2/H3 hierarchy.
  5. Visible publish and updated dates.
